Berry Hat and Booties

This morning I finished these very adorable, easy to knit, pain in the butt to sew up!! newborn baby booties to go with the newborn berry hat I made in late October.

And no, I am not expecting, just could not resist the sweetness.

The hat was my first foray into intarsia/stranding (not sure exactly which it really was, I strung the contrasting color yarn along until I needed it for the leaves….anyone?) and the only thing I can tell you is that it wasn’t as scary as it sounds. The internet is a plethora of how to’s! Just remember not to hold your contrasting color with too much tension or your knitting will pucker, and you’ll have to rip it out….and that would be terrible…

Both the lovely blue and purple yarn were found at Seaside Yarns in Juneau and are beautifully hand dyed merino cashmere made by a local Alaskan gal.

Best part about these knits, is the patterns were Free! Find the Saartjie’s Booties pattern here and the Berry Baby Hat here. If you make or have made either of these share in a comment below! Happy knitting!

Super cute set! I have that bootie pattern saved as well and I’ll have to remember the hat to go with it

The Booties knit up quick and make a lovely baby shower gift I think, one thing I would do next go around is make the straps a stitch or two longer just for a little extra room, the cross over can be a little tight on chubby feet I think. The hat is a great beginner/intermediate hat and makes a cute set! Happy knitting!
